On-The-Go Breakfast Ideas

Posted on: January 28th, 2020 by Allie Voss No Comments

Although we wish we could spend our mornings making protein pancakes, scrambled eggs, and breakfast potatoes, it usually ends up looking a lot more like grabbing a protein bar and racing out the door. We’ve compiled 3 easy but nutritious on-the-go breakfast ideas that will keep you full until lunch and with minimal time to prepare.

  1. Overnight oats. This is a classic, and the best part is that it forms into oatmeal overnight, and it’s ready to go in the morning! Play around with your toppings and mix-ins, here’s an easy place to start: ½ cup oats, 1 cup water or nut milk, 1 serving protein powder, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, 1 tablespoon nut butter and topped with ½ banana. Mix all of the ingredients together and place in your fridge overnight, and simply top with a banana in the morning. This recipe is filled with carbohydrates, fat, and protein, and you’ll be satisfied for hours!

  1. Breakfast burritos. If you can commit to spending 1-2 hours in the kitchen over the weekend, you can easily set yourself up for success. Here’s what you do: in one pan, brown some sausage and in another fry hash browns in avocado oil. Lay out 5 tortillas and fill each with sausage, hash browns, peppers, onions, and a little cheese (if desired). Roll them up and cover each in tin foil, afterwards place them in the freezer. Then, in the morning take one out of the freezer, pop it in the microwave, and eat it with your favorite hot sauce or a little salsa.

  1. Protein smoothie. This is pretty easy to throw together in the morning, but there are ways to simplify it the night before. Pre-package frozen fruit, greens (kale or spinach), and frozen avocado in individual bags and place them in the freezer. In separate bags, pre-package protein powder, and chia or flax seeds. Then, in the morning all you have to do is empty one of each bag into the blender, add water or nut milk and blend! You’ve got carbohydrates from the fruit, fat from the seeds and avocado, and protein from the protein powder. Mix up your frozen fruit and you’ll have a different taste every day.

There you have it! Three great options for a quick nutritious breakfast as you head out the door.
