Give Back This Holiday Season

Posted on: December 3rd, 2019 by Allie Voss

As we head into the month of December, and because it is Giving Tuesday, we decided to come up with a list of four different ways you can give back this Holiday season. Whether it’s monetarily, giving your time, clothing you don’t wear anymore, or food, there are plenty of ways to give back this season.

  1. Donate to your favorite charity or one that is close to your heart. Calhoun Beach Club fundraises every year for Auggie’s Quest for ALS by planning a large event focused around group fitness, food, and our members. We challenge you to do some research and find an organization that you can stand behind! Any dollar amount helps.
  2. Donate non-perishable items to a local food shelf. Over the month of November, as a community at CBC, we collected donations for “STEP: St. Louis Park Emergency Program.” We were amazed by the number of items that were donated (shown in the photo above), and when we dropped them off at the drop-off site, they couldn’t have been more thankful. Thank you to everyone who donated to a great organization in our local community!
  3. In the baking mood? Grab your friends and spend the day baking cookies or your favorite breads. Wrap them up nicely and deliver to your neighbors, or bring to work! Small acts of thoughtfulness like this go a long way. Plus, who doesn’t love freshly baked banana bread?
  4. Donate your time and spend an hour packing food at a local Feed My Starving Children. In 2018 alone, 347,746,728 meals were packed and served to those in need throughout the world. It’s a really rewarding atmosphere hearing about the families receiving the food, and being able to work alongside your friends or family while doing it!

The list could go on, but those are 4 wonderful ways to give back this Holiday season. If you want to invest your time and energy in your local community, you can find plenty of opportunities online. If you want to support a larger world-wide organization, that’s amazing too. Any amount of money, time, or items, goes a long way. We hope everyone has a joyful and fulfilled Holiday season!
