Fun Thanksgiving Workout Ideas

The Holidays are here! Which means a lot of time spent with family, friends, and of course, a lot of good food. If you’re just beginning your fitness journey, Holidays can feel a bit scary. Along with a clean diet, working out is important when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. We came up with a few ways to get a workout in when you’re traveling for Thanksgiving. It doesn’t have to be complicated, and it can be fun!

 

  1. Sign up for a Turkey Trot. Most cities have festive runs on Thanksgiving morning. Whether you’re looking for a 5k, or maybe even a 10k, there are lots of options to get moving. If you’re not a runner but still want to participate, grab your family and join the others who like to walk the course! The energy is high, people usually dress up, and it’s a great way to start your day. 
  2. Play a friendly game of football, or walk around the neighborhood after your feast! Although it may be tempting to sleep the whole afternoon after your Thanksgiving meal, try and move around a bit before you take a tryptophan inducing snooze. It’s always easier to workout when you have company. 
  3. Do an at-home workout while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Set a timer for 20 minutes and do each exercise for 1 minute and move onto the next one until the 20 minutes are complete. Here are some exercises you can try: jumping jacks, push-ups, squats, sit-ups, lunges, wall sits, and tricep dips. We guarantee you’ll break a sweat 5 minutes in!
  4. Join us for a workout at Calhoun Beach Club! We are offering 4 different classes, all starting at 9:00am. We’re offering Vinyasa Flow, Aqua Blast, Indoor Cycle, and a NEW class, Body Burn. Lastly, Thanksgiving is one day out of the year. Enjoy the good food and the company. Don’t stress about the calories or the extra slice of pie.
